What you may not know is that often, these companies have negative impacts on small, local businesses. Many feel compelled to use these companies in order to compete with larger chains. These companies take anywhere from 20 to 35% of the gross sales on top of any additional service fees, promotions and penalties applied on top. UberEats is the largest and most notorious of the ‘Big 3’. Another negative to add are the subcontracted delivery drivers who don’t really care if you food arrives hot and on time. It’s no surprise that food often arrives cold and/or late. The best thing you can do, if you truly want to help your neighbourhood, is to order DIRECTLY from the restaurant.
